Last night was the 2015 GQ Awards, and while most of the buzz is around Jose Mourinho’s daughter Matilde going braless (in Balmain, so that’s sort of alright) and Sam Smith’s sneak preview of his song for Bond film Spectre, we’re all about the togs.
It’s also an event where men feel a bit freer to step outside the tuxedo box (although there was plenty of that too), so there’s good pickings for male style inspiration.
Will Ferrell looked sharp in a three-piece and Sam Smith’s statement glasses are a great way to inject a bit of personality into formalwear.
However the ladies outshone them all. From Emilia Clarke to Jourdan Dunn, here’s our edit of the best looks of the night…
The colour says autumn, the design says ‘I’m not ready to let go of summer’. The Game of Thrones actress who won GQ’s ‘Woman of the Year’ award stunned in a burnt orange number from Oscar De La Renta’s 2016 Resort collection.
Even without this Sonia Rykiel showstopper Jourdan would have made our jaws drop, especially when you take in the cheeky side panels below.
How to wear a female suit like a boss.
The colour is on point, as is the lippy, Christian Louboutin heels and simple black clutch. But top marks for the vintage inspired dress from The Vampire’s Wife.
Love the colour, mesh panels and structured shoulders.
The sheer v-neck is fierce, as are her metallic pumps.

Model Alicia sports ones of our favourite looks of the evening.
Jodie cuts a striking figure as it is – throw some sequins on her and she looks magnificent.

Could this be anything than Versace? Taken from this year’s Spring/Summer collection, Lott looks like she’s just stepped off a yacht with neon nails and accessories kept to a minimum.
Khan nails how to pull off lacy panels (hint: it’s by not showing your underwear).

It was tuxedo central at the awards but we think actor and model Jack may even beat David Gandy in the style stakes a) because of the beard, b) because of the beautiful Burberry blue suit and c) did we mention the beard?
He won the GQ award for more stylish man. We feel no further words are needed. Let us just bask.
Keeping it classy, San Diego. And not at all like a fusty librarian or decrepit lord of the manor which is sometimes the danger with three-piece suits.

We love the suit and the healthy new look. But check out those GLASSES.
We love this shot of Dave Rowntree, Alex James, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon and can’t quite decide whose ahead in the suit stakes.
Wearing his trademark hat, who needs a bow tie when you have those cheekbones?
